The Board of Directors of Telecom Italia, at its meeting today chaired by Giuseppe Recchi, has examined the proposal recently received from FSI/F2i regarding the advisability of sharing a plan to invest in FTTH networks.
In this context, the Board analysed the progress of the Telecom Italia investments in new generation networks which have so far meant that 282 towns and cities have already access to Telecom Italia ultrabroadband, and then confirmed its aim to cover 100 towns and cities with FTTH/B technology, of which the Ministry of Economic Development has already been informed.
The Board then decided to analyse in greater depth the studies testing the economic sustainability of any collaboration between the two companies aimed at exploring the feasibility of a further acceleration of the Telecom Italia plan, starting contacts with the counterparties and with the competent Authorities.
