TIM for Emilia Romagna

Our actions for the flooded population.

05/24/2023 - 12:30 PM

With our infrastructure and services, we support the population of Emilia-Romagna affected by the floods, supporting emergency and rescue operations and ensuring that they can stay in touch with their loved ones.

As part of the Operational Committee of the Civil Protection Department, in cooperation with national and local institutions, we started a task force of more than 900 TIM technicians and support staff to fully restore telephone and internet connections in the area.

The mobile network was the first to be restored in most of the affected areas. The fixed network suffered more extensive damage, but for more than 30,000 customers in the provinces of Bologna, Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna and Rimini, connections were restored thanks to prompt intervention on about 300 transmission devices. Activity continues in areas where power plants are still inaccessible.

To operate in this difficult situation, we are using emergency vehicles, some 500 vehicles, 70 fully equipped vans, and 20 vehicles with radio stations and mobile power stations using emergency power generators. Where landslides have damaged fibre optic cables, preventing rescue vehicle access, we reached the intervention areas by helicopter. In completely isolated places, such as in the valleys of the Romagna back country, we have activated radio links.

In addition to interventions on the ground, we have made free GIGA available to all TIM and Kena customers residing in the areas affected by the floods.

Our support to the people of Emilia Romagna will continue until the end of the emergency. Our customer service lines 187, 191, 119, and 181 are always available for further information and assistance.
