LaParitàNonPuòAspettare (Equality can't wait) is TIM's commitment to accelerate the bridging of the gender gap. Italy wants to grow and needs everyone’s talent, courage, passion and commitment. In order to do this, we must come together to overcome stereotypes, offer more opportunities to women and combat gender violence.
On the occasion of the forthcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, TIM has chosen to join the #NoExcuse awareness-raising campaign that starts with the UN's #NoExcuse mobilisation, with the aim of rejecting justifications often used to downplay gender-based violence: jealousy, bouts of anger, provocation, clothing, lifestyle habits.
For the second year in a row, some of TIM branches - and the Rome and Milan headquarters in particular - will turn orange in support of Orange The World-UNiTE, the initiative launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2008 to contrast violence against women.
However, our commitment also goes through concrete initiatives, both for TIM people and for the whole community.
With the aim of creating a work environment where anyone can be free to ask for help in a protected and respectful manner, we have created a network of qualified people, colleagues and associates, ready to offer competent support against violence in all its forms.
Through our subsidy-granting procedure, we will soon introduce financial support for TIM people subjected to family violence or in a dangerous situation, and our ‘Gender and sexual harassment and bullying’ policy will expand to include new measures dedicated precisely to violence.
We also offer external support to all persons in need, such as an impartial Person of Trust, expert on incidents of harassment, bullying or sexually inappropriate behaviour, plus free legal advice and psychological assistance.
Our TIM shops are Punti Viola, a real support network made up of more than 250 points of sale, where our staff trained by legal experts and psychologists are ready to provide assistance in the event of situations of hardship or violence on the street, in the family, at home or at work.
Through our partnership with Fondazione Onda, we are promoting the OpenWeek against gender-based violence, from 21 to 27 November, a week of free services dedicated to women victims of violence, who will be able to go to hospitals marked with the Bollino Rosa (Pink Spot). Care, counselling, clinical and information services will be offered to all of them in these venues.
From today until 8 December, a special 3D version of ‘The Labyrinth’ ad, by Oscar winner Giuseppe Tornatore for TIM, is on air. On the side façade of Milan Cathedral, three new subjects will be rotated, to highlight the fundamental and indispensable aspects of achieving gender equality: economic equality, political equality, and equal opportunities.
Lastly, we continue our journey to raise awareness on the gender gap issue, and we do so on Saturday 23rd, by participating to L'Eredità delle Donne, the festival dedicated to women's empowerment. The event focuses on the contemporary world to rediscover the role that women have had and continue to have in the various fields of knowledge and society, and thus contribute to the progress and legacy we will leave to future generations.
