The work of the National Strategic Hub, the project company owned by TIM, Leonardo, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and Sogei, which, by the end of the year, will provide Italy with an efficient, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure through which public administrations will be able to digitalise their organisations in order to simplify bureaucracy and offer citizens higher quality services.
The National Strategic Hub is one of the main operations promoted by the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers within the framework of the first mission of the NRRP and will host the critical and strategic data and services of Central Public Administrations, Local Health Authorities (ASL) and other local public administrations. Administrations will also be able to choose the National Strategic Hub for ordinary data management.
The work of the National Strategic Hub will be crucial to achieving the goal of bringing 75% of Italian public administrations to use cloud-based services by 2026 and will contribute to upgrading public spending on digital infrastructure and increasing its efficiency.
In addition to being a partner in the company, the TIM Group will play a key role by providing the National Strategic Hub with 4 Data Centers located throughout Italy and organised in two regions, Rome and Milan, capable of ensuring the highest standards of security, reliability, and resilience, while respecting the environment. TIM Data Centers are Tier IV certified (the standard indicating the highest level of security and operational continuity), interconnected through TIM's Virtual Data Center Network, high performance, and 100% powered by energy from renewable sources.
TIM will also make, together with Leonardo, advanced technological solutions available to public administrations using the services of Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. TIM's operational and technological management will guarantee control of processes, access and data protection and thus ensure that the principle of sovereignty and the security, interoperability, transparency and portability of applications and data are respected.
