Italy has enormous untapped potential. This is what emerges from the "Report on the digital transformation of Italy", the study carried out by the Centro Studi TIM in collaboration with CENSIS, which, starting with an analysis of the 2020 Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), completes the picture of our country before and after lockdown.
The first months of the health emergency put communication networks to the test: in the face of an unprecedented surge in digital consumption the infrastructures demonstrated resilience and reliability. This is an important result, but not nearly enough to guarantee Italy the necessary advancement to define a new model for the economy and society.
This very need gave rise to Operazione Risorgimento Digitale, the project launched in November 2019 by TIM together with over 30 partners from the world of institutions, companies and civil society, which aims to accelerate the development of digital skills among Italians. The initiative, which initially included a real tour of the country, now offers digital distance learning and has achieved important goals in its first year.
To celebrate the first birthday of this initiative, the live streaming event "The skills of the future, today" was held on 1 December with the participation, among others, of Salvatore Rossi, Chairman of TIM, and Luigi Gubitosi, CEO. This is an opportunity to take stock of the digitisation of the country and present the structure of the initiatives of Operazione Risorgimento Digitale, which provides webinars and free educational content for citizens, schools, businesses and public administration.
To make citizens aware of the digital opportunities available, Operazione Risorgimento Digitale is offering "The Internet School for All," a training course consisting of 4 weekly webinars lasting 1 hour each, presentations, videos, exercises and "homework,” with a final learning test and the issue of a certificate.
To increase the competitiveness of companies, strengthening and supporting the transformation of the production sector, Master Classes are being promoted, namely live sessions on "Digital Transformation," "Web and Marketing," "Big Data, IoT and AI" and the "Cloud," tailored to the needs of professionals, entrepreneurs and employees of SMEs.
Those who want to acquire skills for citizen services can attend digital education courses dedicated to Public Administration, and in particular SPID, PagoPA, ANPR and the IO Platform.
Lastly, there is a digital training offer dedicated to young people and schools involving educational innovation and the integration of new technologies into learning processes.
