The first “connected” tram has departed in Naples. Testing for the Connected TRAM Project has gone live. The first three-week stage will involve the Azienda Napoletana Mobilità (ANM - Neapolitan Mobility Company) Tram 4 on the stretch from Corso S. Giovanni a Teduccio to Municipio.
With the cloud solution developed by Tim Enterprise using Noovle’s specialised cloud and edge computing expertise, tram passengers will have real-time access to geo-localised information on transport, news, weather, historical facts, places, and points of interest like monuments, public squares, and museums. The information will be accessible via an infotainment portal displayed on 16:9 screens on board the tram and directly on passengers’ smartphones, who will be able to enjoy the free 5G WiFi.
Cloud and 5G services will also be available in a second testing stage for collecting data on traffic, passengers, and any exceptional events that — using TIM Enterprise technology, platforms, and smart city solutions — can help make managing the city increasingly efficient and sustainable.
