The Digital Transformation of Italy Report produced by Censis and Centro Studi TIM clearly shows how, both during and since the lockdown brought about by the pandemic, digital culture in Italy has evolved in a way that could steadily increase the level of knowledge and use of digital tools in our country and allow us to recover positions in the DESI 2020 index. Adoption of the cloud - the technology that allows access to the maximum computing, management and data processing power with flexibility, efficiency, speed and sustainability- is one of the main levers to accelerating this process, as well as a driving force for the economy: its benefits in terms of extra productivity can lead to an increase in GDP of up to 20 billion euros by 2025 (according to a study conducted by The European House Ambrosetti with Microsoft).
A cloud company to support sustainable growth
This is the context in which Noovle SpA has been established as the TIM Group cloud company that will further boost growth and digital transformation in Italy, the first Italian centre of excellence for cloud and edge computing that combines the infrastructure and skills of the TIM Group with those of Noovle Srl, the company acquired last May and one of the main Google Cloud partners in the Italian market.
A new organisation that will boost the development of TIM's cloud business, guided by environmental protection objectives through the eco-efficient and sustainable management of its infrastructure. Thanks to increasingly green data centres in terms of lower consumption, the use of alternative and self-produced sources, and certified, the cloud is in fact an important driver for the sustainable growth of TIM and the Country.
A clear mission drives Noovle: to allow companies and organisations to fully exploit the potential of digital technology by modernizing infrastructure and applications thanks to a wide range of public, private, hybrid and multicloud solutions, i.e. environments suitable for different types of customers, all calibrated to their actual needs with a simple and pay-per-use system.
From green data centres to the management of all cloud activities
Noovle intends to become the go-to provider to support TIM's strategy in the digitisation of large, medium and small businesses and public administration, providing fast, flexible and scalable solutions ranging from data centres to platforms, security, integration, through five product lines: cloud transformation, data centre services, modern workplace, customer experience, compliance e data sovereignty.
Its network of eco-efficient data centres, distributed throughout the country, is built according to the most advanced technological and security standards and consists of 6 new data centres specialised in hybrid cloud services, 7 core data centres and 4 service centres (micro data centres) for the widest range of IT solutions. An infrastructure that by 2022 will have grown to over 50,000 square metres of systems rooms and a capacity of up to 100 MW of IT power that will integrate with the TIM fibre optic network, thus ensuring the provision of very high-performance services.
A partnership-based business model
Noovle is a new important part of the strategy that has led the TIM Group to establish itself as a go-to provider of cloud and edge computing, two markets that will become increasingly important with the gradual implementation of 5G and artificial intelligence. A result achieved, in particular, thanks to the partnerships established with innovation leaders in this field, primarily Google Cloud, together with Atos, VMware, Cisco, Citrix, Microsoft, Salesforce and SAP.
