On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, also known as IDAHOBIT Day, TIM celebrates the diversity of romantic orientation, sexual orientation and gender identity, and continues its commitment against violence and discrimination.
Gender identity: the meaning for us at TIM
Promoting inclusion and respecting diversity is one of the principles that guide our organisation. That is why, for example, we were the first in Italy to recognise marriage licences for same-sex couples and extend to all cohabiting partners, regardless of gender, the benefits we offer to families. For people undergoing gender transition, we have a support programme that allows the employee to use the social identity they choose even before legal recognition of the registered gender change. We also have a specific policy against gender harassment and bullying.
At the same time, we work on corporate culture through initiatives dedicated to in-depth analysis and discussion, including 4W4I, the big inter-company marathon with over 200 events on inclusion for employees of partner companies. In the 2021 edition, LGBT+ was one of the central themes of the event.
On the occasion of IDAHOBIT Day 2022, these activities are complemented by two special initiatives.
On the TIM Academy e-learning platform, reserved for all TIM employees, the second instalment of the internal Inclusion Management podcast series, dedicated in this case to LGBT+ issues is now available. The narrative voice of Ema Stokholma, writer and radio and TV host, and the comments of Francesca Vecchioni, founder of the non-profit organisation Diversity, with the participation of Claudio Rossi Marcelli, journalist and writer, will recap parts of Killing Eve, the TV series available on TIM VISION.
TIM employees will also be able to take part in "Inclusion doesn't stop", the webinar organised by Parks - Liberi e Uguali, the non-profit association that has been raising awareness of the business potential linked to the development of diversity-friendly strategies and good practices since 2010, and of which TIM is a founding member.
