Telecom Italia has brought a display area dedicated exclusively to phone card enthusiasts to this year´s "Europa Card Show", the fifth European fair of cards, phone cards and electronic money, held at the Palazzo del Turismo in Riccione this year between 1 and 3 September.
Visitors to the Telecom Italia stand can buy two issues brought out specially for the event: both "Il Pesce" and "Il Polipo" are valid until 31 December 2002. With a 40,000 production run, "Il Pesce" (fish) has a face value of 10,000 lire; "Il Polipo" (octopus) comes with a face value of 2000 lire, in a circulation of 45,000. A number of highly popular special issues will also be available at the show, including the "Extreme" series, which is on sale direct for the first time. A special limited edition folder for this series is also available, on purchase of the cards.
Also available at the Fair is Telecom Italia´s brand new "La Scheda ti premia" promotion. Visitors can win thousands of prizes simply by scratching off the foil section of the card.
Telecom Italia is giving away the first of its smart cards with an inbuilt chip, due to be launched at the end of the year: one is awarded, free, for every 70,000 lire spent. By the end of the year, when ISDN phones are more widely available, this card will make it possible to conduct special offers, promotions and offer a whole range of discounts tailored to use of the card.
