Telecom Italia’s Domestic Wireline Business Unit and CDC S.p.A., leading Italian IT equipment manufacturer and distributor, have signed an agreement to distribute “Alice” broadband Internet services through Computer Discount stores.
According to the terms of the agreement, Computer Discount stores will promote Telecom Italia’s Alice range of products for residential and very small business customers, providing advice and information about the different types of service, as well as assistance in subscribing to the services.
Telecom Italia settled on CDC and Computer Discount as its partner in this venture because of the latter’s long experience (over 15 years) in the IT distribution market Computer Discount has the biggest chain of IT shops in the Italian market in terms of both number of sales outlets and turnover.
“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with Telecom, in that it increases the range of value added services we can offer our customers”, declared Giuseppe Diomelli, chairman and founder of CDC S.p.A. “Broadband Internet connection services also fit in perfectly with the reference market and skills of the Computer Discount chain of stores.”
Massimo Castelli, marketing manager of Telecom Italia Domestic Wireline services had this to add: “We are sure that a highly specialized and extensive network such as Computer Discount’s will enable Telecom Italia to increase market penetration of its ADSL services in Italy, particularly in the consumer and SoHo segments.”
