During today’s meeting with the financial community, Riccardo Ruggiero, the Chief Executive Officer of Telecom Italia, presented data relative to the company’s commercial performance up to February 2006.
With regard to Wireline, customer win-backs in January and February 2006 totalled 170,000, while the new “flat” offers increased from 375,000 at the end of 2005 to 527,000 at the end of February 2006. The numbers of innovative terminals sold to the end of February was over 4 million, compared with 3.8 million at the end of 2005. The number of domestic broadband customers reached 5.9 million connections, compared with 5.7 million in December 2005.
With regard to Mobile telephony in Italy, net additions in January and February totalled 798,000 (of which 59,000 SME), bringing the customer base to 29.374 million, while the market share in January rose to 40.3% from 40% in December. The number of UMTS customers rose to 2.7 million, corresponding to 9.2% of total Tim customers. The new offers (Tim Tribù, Tim Famiglia and Tim Relax) exceeded 2.6 million customers compared with 2 million at the end of 2005, while the number of handsets sold in January and February 2006 were approximately 700,000.
