TELECOM ITALIA WINS CONTEST TO SUPPLY ICT SERVICES TO THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
The 5-year agreement, valued at over 180 million euro, sees Telecom Italia in partnership with ElsagDatamat and Engineering
The Raggruppamento Temporaneo d'Impresa, a grouping led by Telecom Italia which includes ElsagDatamat (a Finmeccanica company) and Engineering Ingegneria Informatica, won the first lot of a European contest held by CNIPA (National Centre for the Computerization of the Public Administration) for the supply of Information and Communication Technology services for the computerization of the Italian public administration.
The contract, which has a duration of 5 years and a value of over 180 million euro, was today signed by the chairman of Cnipa, Livio Zoffoli, and the chief executive of Telecom Italia, Riccardo Ruggiero. This agreement will give the national public administrations access to a sophisticated platform of ICT services which will be delivered through a Service Centre with three national offices (Rome, Pomezia and Milan) to ensure the continuity and reliability of the services. These include, in particular, the creation and management of Internet sites and portals, the development and maintenance of web interfaces, the centralized management of individual work stations, server operation and the efficiency monitoring of applications.
The contest is part of the strategic plan for the Sistema Pubblico di Connettività (SPC or public system of connectivity) which will allow the integration of the public administration according to pre-defined standards of inter-operability and cooperation. Thanks to this agreement, Telecom Italia and its partners will support the process of modernizing the public administration, for the country’s benefit, sponsored by CNIPA. After having planned the SPC and its services and guiding its realization, CNIPA will monitor and supervise the framework agreement to allow the updating of technologies, services and prices.
