Once again this year, TIM has been confirmed as a world promoter of concrete initiatives to combat climate change. The Group has been included in the 'B’ list for Climate Change by the environmental organization CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), improving on last year's performance (B-). The initiative, which the company has participated in since 2010, is the most important platform monitoring environmentally positive action, which, in 2022, saw the participation of more than 14 thousand companies.
The result stems from the Group's strong focus on the ESG objectives included in the Strategic Plan, which aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable supplier engagement.
The CDP assessment follows the SBTi’s (Science Based Targets initiative) recent recognition for environmental strategy. The Group aims to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030, reducing emissions from its production (Scope 1) and purchase of electricity (Scope 2) by 75%, through the use of exclusively renewable energy sources as early as 2025. Furthermore, by 2030, TIM will achieve a 47% reduction in the emissions of its value chain (Scope 3) relating to the purchase of goods and services, capital goods and the use of products sold to customers. Another key element is the achievement of net zero emissions (Net Zero) by 2040.
TIM is in the most important international ESG financial indices. The company is in S&P's Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index for the 19th year in a row, and In 2022, was confirmed as one of the sustainability leaders and the only telecommunications company in Italy.
In Moody's ESG Solutions ranking, it is the top telecommunications company in the ‘advanced’ bracket, with ESG performance above the industry average.
