#ILFUTUROE’DITUTTI: the "Digital Championship" the innovation talent competition aiming at spreading a digital culture throughout the country, comes to Palermo.

The road show organised by TIM and the Digital Champions Association will be stopping in the Sicilian capital on Thursday 9 July to discover the best "digital talents" in Sicily, Calabria and Basilicata.

Five projects are up for the award and the winner will be announced by a technical jury based on the potential expressed in the digital culture and social innovation area.

A talent show promoting innovation and sustaining digital talents in Italy. The Digital Championship is the road show organised by TIM and the Digital Champions Association which will be stopping in Palermo on Thursday 9 July at the Telecom Italia offices in Via Ugo La Malfa, 99 (2.30 p.m.) to present the best projects coming from Sicily, Calabria and Basilicata.

The projects aims to identify - through a series of inter-regional contests - the best "ideas" out there in the digital culture and social innovation area which could be useful to the public, thereby promoting activities supporting innovation and the growth of the Country.  

At the Sicilian stop, moderated by the Italian Digital Champion Riccardo Luna and after that of Torino, Cagliari and Ancona, five projects will be presented selected by the jury consisting of Marcella Logli, Telecom Italia's Head of Corporate Shared Value, Giuseppe Tilia (Chairman of the jury), Head of the  Digital Agenda Project of Telecom Italia, Alessandro Albanese, the Chairman of Confindustria Palermo, and Giovanna Marano, the Councillor for productive activities, growth, business, markets and employment of the Municipality of  Palermo. Competing for Sicily will be, #eskillsforwomen, by Carmen Russo from San Giovanni La Punta(CT), Gnu Health IT, by Vincenzo Virgilio from Trapani; for Calabria Macingo, by Samuele Furfaro from Melicucco (RC),  Nonni digitali, by Massimiliano Aiello from Castrolibero (CS) and Paolo Mirabelli, from Rende (CS); for Basilicata, La rivoluzione silenziosa dei lucani, by Francesco Piero Paolicelli from Matera and Ida Leone from Pignola (PZ).

Each "digital talent" will have 6 minutes to present their idea which will first be commented on and then voted for by the jury based on the potential, purpose and repeatability of the project. The jury asked to proclaim the winner is composed of two representatives of Telecom Italia and two figures active at a local level.

Telecom Italia is the founding member of the Digital Champions Association, created in November 2014 with the aim of selecting a “ Digital Champion” in every Italian municipality: over 8,000 people to talk about the opportunities of Internet and encourage digital literacy in the Country.

The Digital Championship will be broadcast in streaming live and on demand on telecomitalia.com/digitalchampionship, where it is also possible to consult on demand the previous  dates, interviews with the protagonists and further in-depth contents. During the live broadcast it will also be possible to take part in the social conversation thanks to the hashtags #ilfuturoèditutti and #digitalchampions.

The initiative falls within the sphere of Telecom Italia's Corporate Shared Value activities #ilfuturoèditutti, a programme of activities based on creating common values with the communities the Company operates in.

The Digital Championship projects presented at Palermo

1.#eskillsforwomenproject by Carmen Russo, from San Giovanni La Punta (CT), CEO at Fablab Catania.This project looks at literacy activities and the diffusion of basic digital skills, as well as the diffusion of eskills for jobs for women in the city and the Public Administrations.

 

 

2.Gnu Health IT: project by Vincenzo Virgilio, from Trapani, Engineer and contract university lecturer.The project sets out to make health services more accessible to citizens, using the free software Linux to manage healthcare systems.

 

 

3.Macingo: project by Samuele Furfaro, from Melicucco (RC), Financial Director of F.M.B. Tubes Srl.Macingo is the Uber of goods transport: the first Italian marketplace of goods transport aimed at SMEs and hauliers.

 

 

4.Nonni digitali: project by Massimiliano Aiello, from Castrolibero (CS), Technical manager of Esse I Solutions, and Paolo Mirabelli, from Rende (CS), CEO of Graphid3a.This is a project for teaching digital skills to particular categories of the population, with special focus on the elderly.

 

 

5.La rivoluzione silenziosa dei lucani: project by Francesco Piero Paolicelli, from Matera, OpenData Manager at the Municipality of Matera, and Ida Leone, from Pignola (PZ), Consultant of the Public Administration for EU funds.This project consists of setting up an on-line Community for social development  based on a digital culture, starting from lower level users.
