TIM has made it possible to activate eSIMs online using your digital identity, without the need to go to a store to complete the purchase with an identity document and tax code or wait for the TIM Card to be delivered by the postman.
The eSIM (embedded SIM) is an evolution of the existing physical SIM card. It is completely digital and allows you to use a mobile line simply by scanning the QR Code provided with the smartphone camera. It has an unlimited life and you can transfer it to a new smartphone using the QR Code.
From today, customers will be able to activate a new number and immediately start browsing, making and receiving calls, or start the process of porting the number they are already using in a few simple steps. All they need to do is select the chosen offer, authenticate online with their SPID after receiving the QR Code via email and configure the eSIM on their smartphone by scanning the QR Code.
The SPID digital identity can also be used to easily activate a new line, port a number, or purchase a physical SIM, without having to resort to video identification. The service will subsequently also be extended to other digital identities such as the Electronic Identity Card (CIE). The introduction of TIM's eSIM further simplifies the purchasing experience with complete security and a reduced environmental impact.
