‘A Very Royal Scandal’ arrives in Italy from 26 November, exclusively on TIMVision. The three-episode miniseries is based on the interview Prince Andrew, Duke of York, gave to BBC journalist Emily Maitlis about his involvement in the scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, the US businessman arrested and convicted of sexual abuse and international child trafficking.
‘A Very Royal Scandal’ recounts the days leading up to the meeting between Maitlis and Prince Andrew and reconstructs the interview, watched on TV by two million viewers. The Duke revealed the details of his friendship with the American businessman, while denying all accusations of involvement with Virginia Giuffre, Epstein’s trafficking victim who accused him of having had sexual relations with her when she was a minor. Overwhelmed by criticism after the interview was broadcast, Prince Andrew was forced by the family to resign from all public roles.
Cast alongside Michael Sheen (Prince Andrew) and Ruth Wilson (Emily Maitlis) are Joanna Scanlan (Amanda Thirsk), Alex Jennings (Sir Edward Young) and Éanna Hardwicke (Stewart Maclean).
The series, part three of the anthology that began with ‘A Very English Scandal’ and continued with ‘A Very British Scandal’, is directed by Julian Jarrold and written by Jeremy Brock. It is produced by Blueprint Television for Amazon MGM Studios and distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television. Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Jeremy Brock, Julian Jarrold, and Maitlis herself are the executive producers.
