Tomorrow, 19 June, following its great debut on ITV and ITVX in the United Kingdom, the adrenaline-charged Red Eye reaches Italy, as an exclusive premiere on TimVision. The eagerly anticipated thriller series is set during a night flight between London and Beijing, in the streets of the City and in the corridors of power in Whitehall.
After attending a medical conference in Beijing and a brush with death in a terrible car accident in the Chinese capital, Dr Matthew Nolan, played by Richard Armitage (Obsession, Stay Close), is arrested as soon as he lands at London’s Heathrow airport. Nolan is accused of murdering a Chinese woman from an important family, found dead in the same car he crashed the night before, with no passengers, and he’s forced to return to China to face charges.
Hana Li, played by Jing Lusi, is the London police officer in charge of escorting Nolan to Beijing. During the return flight, some suspicious deaths on board lead Hana Li to open a dangerous investigation to protect Nolan.
Meanwhile, in London, Hana’s half-sister journalist Jess Li (Jemma Moore) attempts to profit from Hana’s position and investigates Nolan’s extradition, finding herself stalked by a deadly, unknown killer.
Meanwhile in the corridors of Thames House, the head of MI5, Madeline Delaney, played by Lesley Sharp, breaks protocol and risks her entire career not only to help Hana and Nolan stay alive, but to unmask an international conspiracy that seems to involve both China and her own government in the murders on Flight 357.
Red Eye, consisting of six 50-minute episodes, is produced by Bad Wolf, owned by Sony Pictures Television, for ITVX, written by screenwriter Peter A Dowling (Black and Blue, Flightplan) and directed by Kieron Hawkes (Fortitude and Power Book IV).
The first three episodes will be available on TimVision from 19 June, the final three from 26 June.
