Sparkle, the first international service provider in Italy and among the top global operators, announces that its CEO Elisabetta Romano has been elected as the Chair of the ITW Global Leaders’ Forum (GLF) Board. The results of the election have been announced by GLF at the opening of the International Telecoms Week (ITW), the world’s largest gathering of global executives from across the telecoms and ICT infrastructure ecosystem.
The ITW Global Leaders’ Forum is a network of the leaders from the world’s largest international service providers whose primary objective is to provide leadership and direction for the industry by advocating common priorities that improve interconnectivity so that new digital services can be delivered at scale anywhere in the world. As GLF chair, Elisabetta will play a pivotal role in continuing to realise the collaborative work and strategic vision of its members.
“It is a great honour being elected as Chair of this prestigious association”, commented Elisabetta Romano, CEO of Sparkle. “As a member of the ITW Global Leaders’ Forum, over the last few years I have appreciated and fully shared the principles that drive its activity and the extraordinary work done in promoting development and transformation in an industry where ‘coopetition’ is key. During my tenure, I would like to contribute toward the creation of value for profitable growth of the industry. We haven’t exploited yet the full potential of the Edge, and we are still in the early days of Web3 and decentralized intelligence. We shall also intensify strategic alliances with industry organizations and create new streams of collaboration with technology vendors. I am sure that, bringing back technology to the core of the industry, we will do great things together and I am thrilled to do my part”.
Commenting on Elisabetta Romano’s appointment, Annabel Helm, Director of the GLF and GLF Community said: “On behalf of the GLF board members and wider GLF community, I would like to thank Elisabetta for taking on this role. The industry is at an inflection point and the actions and collaborative work undertaken within the GLF will play an increasingly important role in unlocking growth opportunities and building an effective ecosystem engagement strategy. Elisabetta’s experience working with different market segments and technologies in various leadership roles throughout her career will be a huge asset to the GLF and our work on behalf of our members”.
Elisabetta succeeds Laurinda Pang, President of Global Customer Success at Lumen, who served as the GLF Chair since 2020.
