Fondazione TIM

The TIM Group’s companies are particularly attentive to the needs of the Community in which they operate and implement wide-ranging initiatives and projects dedicated to their social and economic development.

The mission of the Fondazione TIM (FTIM) is to promote the culture of digital change and innovation, promoting integration, communication, economic and social growth.

FTIM can operate, in Italy and abroad, by the methods and with the tools that are considered appropriate in each case for it to achieve its statutory purposes.

In accordance with this mission, four areas of intervention have been identified:

  • Education: innovation in teaching and education, promoting initiatives aimed at updating the technology in Italian schools and introducing radical innovations in educational methods and tools;
  • Innovation culture: a program of activities unconventional in the world of foundations for the diffusion of innovation culture, becoming a point of reference.
  • Social Empowerment: organizations-profit, are undertakings. The Foundation promotes not only for a better use of the new technologies, but capacity of managing and efficiency, to help increasingly to do "good good.
  • Equity Storico-Artistico: the Italian artistic patrimony represents the excellence of "technology of the past". The FTIM intends to contribute to its value and to use public through technology of this.
The Foundation's activities take place according to the following criteria:


FTIM pursues its objectives by allocation of contributions to projects proposed by persons and institutions third parties nonprofit, according to the requirements established by the Board of Directors.  Starting from 2015 the Foundation also arises as a subject operating, managing some projects in person.

Strategic objectives

FTIM works to disseminate a culture of innovation, in order to promote solidarity and civil, cultural and economic development.

The heart of FTIM is the spirit of innovation, thanks to which the Foundation undertakes to work for an increasingly digital, cutting edge and competitive Italy, to improve people's living conditions. This translates into the implementation of innovative projects aimed at promoting and disseminating science and technology and developing models, technological tools and systems to support social enterprises.

Project selection and monitoring

The selection is made based on the social impact of projects, which must be measurable, sustainable and replicable.The monitoring system is established according to the specific characteristics and objectives of each project. Monitoring is a requirement for all projects, whether selected by tender or directly. As well as being an eligibility requirement, it also provides an assessment parameter.


Instituto TIM

In 2013, the TIM Institute was founded with the aim of defining strategies and providing resources for the dissemination of science and innovation to support the development of the community in Brazil, particularly by means of mobile technology.

Four areas of activity were identified in which to develop projects:

  • education/teaching
  • application
  • work
  • social inclusion
  • Partnerships with organisations, institutions and public and private entities.
  • Free software/open source technologies and materials.
Strategic objectives
  • Implementation of educational projects for the social inclusion of young people and teenagers.
  • Implementation of training projects to encourage daily use of the Internet and mobile phones as tools for social development and inclusion.
Project selection and monitoring
  • Projects are selected according to their relevance to the company's strategies and requirements.
  • Initiatives are monitored and a final evaluation is carried out on completion. A report is drawn up for each project that provides a detailed description of the initiative and the results achieved, also in quantitative terms.
