TIM Group joins the European Green Digital Coalition, the alliance formed by leading European ICT sector, with the support of the European Commission and the European Parliament, which aims to harness the potential of digital solutions in the green transformation to lower CO2 emissions.
By signing the 'A Green and Digital Transformation for the EU' declaration, we committed to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the deadline set by the European Climate Law to underline our commitment to lowering emissions from our supply chain and to choosing increasingly sustainable suppliers.
Joining the coalition is further confirmation of the focus on ESG goals in our business plan, reinforcing our commitment to achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2030 and Net Zero Emissions by 2040. Climate strategy, circular economy, digital growth, and developing human capital are the main pillars on which we focus so that we can offer people and companies the opportunities for a digital transformation based on sustainability.
In line with this is the recent validation of our decarbonisation targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In fact, compared to 2019, by 2030, TIM will lower the emissions deriving from the company's production activity (Scope 1) and from purchasing electricity (Scope 2) by 75%, thanks also to the commitment to purchase 100% renewable energy by 2025, in addition to lowering the emissions of its value chain (Scope 3) related to purchasing goods, services, capital goods, and the use of products sold to customers by 47%.
