For us at TIM, building a sustainable future is a key goal to which everyone can and must contribute, through their own work and simple daily gestures. That's why we started a collaboration with AWorld, the app that has the ambitious and worthy goal of achieving widespread awareness for an environmentally aware lifestyle.
The AWorld app was chosen by the United Nations as the official app to support the worldwide ActNow Climate Change Campaign, an accolade we are particularly proud of. The app was in fact conceived and created by a start-up selected and supported by TIM WCAP, the TIM Group's Open Innovation programme that promotes business opportunities with start-ups, SMEs and scale-ups.
This is how TIM Act4Green came about, an initiative that involved many of the Group's employees taking part in the challenges put forth by the AWorld app to raise awareness that even small actions can have a positive environmental impact on the world. The app allows you to choose from a wide range of activities and routines to test your level of information and to 'green check' your daily habits, so that you have tangible evidence of the results achieved. Improvements can be monitored and precise metrics of savings can be displayed (litres of water, kilograms of CO2, waste), quizzes and educational content can be used, and there is the possibility to earn points and receive awards.
Environmental sustainability: TIM’s edutainment experience
The result of our colleagues' efforts has been astonishing and has saved around 178,000 kg of CO2, more than three times the amount set by the AWorld challenge. In recognition of this, TIM will plant 200 trees, increasing its positive impact on the environment and future generations, and will give one tree for symbolic adoption to each of the colleagues who have contributed most to this achievement. Colleagues will be able to follow its growth by logging onto a dedicated website and monitor the CO2 absorbed by their tree. The forest in which the trees will be planted by TIM is also part of a high social impact project that will not only benefit the habitat but also generate food and economic support for local communities.
Given the enthusiasm and participation of our colleagues, TIM will continue to participate in the future AWorld challenges, to make a difference together, starting from everyday life.
