National Civil Protection Week opened Monday, 10th October and will culminate on Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th with Io non rischio – Buone pratiche di protezione civile (Don’t Risk it – Good Civil Protection Practices), the national communications campaign promoted by the Civil Protection Department together with various partners to raise awareness among citizens about the natural risks Italy faces.
More than 8,000 civil protection volunteers will be active in the main squares of around 600 Italian communities and online, with the goal of informing citizens about the risks to which the area they live in is exposed and explain the measures to take in case of a flood, an earthquake, or a tsunami. In the Phlegraean area and on the islands of Vulcano and Stromboli, volunteers will also inform citizens about the risks volcanoes pose.
The TIM Group, which supplies the National Civil Protection Service with essential services for emergency management, has renewed its support for this initiative again this year, because knowing the risks and the simple yet essential precautions to take during an emergency can make a real difference.
