Gender stereotypes condition us even as we imagine and build our talents, limiting our dreams. This is also true for STEM subjects, which girls and boys too often approach with prejudices that affect their growth and that of our society. That is why it is important to take action and speed up change - LaParitàNonPuòAspettare (Equality Cannot Wait).
Data and technology are driving the evolution of our companies and the economy. At TIM, for example, IoT, Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity are applied daily and drive our business. Studying STEM subjects can open up doors to the future, preparing us for new professions that partly do not yet exist, but which we can already envision.
That is why, on the occasion of the first edition of STEM Week, we organised an orientation event dedicated to the sons and daughters of TIM people to talk about science subjects, technology, engineering and mathematics, and their applications in the world of work. We will be doing this together with some TIM managers and Marta Schifone, Member of the Chamber of Deputies' Social Affairs Commission which set up the Italian STEM Week, Pier Giorgio Bianchi from Talents Venture, Elisa Piscitelli from Futurely, and Elisabetta Giustini, Headmistress of the Galileo Galilei Institute in Rome.
Girls and boys will gain first-hand experience of how important it is to make conscious and unprejudiced choices because, in order to grow, talent, passion and courage must be expressed without limiting oneself.
