The fourth edition of “Appointment with Digital Media”, the programme of events organised by TIM and the Italian Digital Media Observatory (IDMO) to combat the spread of fake news, has come to a close.
Over 60 schools and more than 16,000 students and teachers of middle schools and high schools throughout Italy, 32 hours of training, 4 learning pills, 4 interactive games and 16 sessions: these are the numbers behind the free training initiative with which we wanted to contribute to spreading knowledge and awareness on the opportunities of digital communication tools but also on the risks of their incorrect use. Because learning to evaluate information critically, to recognise fake news and reliable sources, also through the use of new tools such as Artificial Intelligence, is increasingly indispensable.
All the training project sessions are available on demand on the IDMO website on the Media Literacy page, also available in LIS (Italian Sign Language).
Through this project, TIM supports IDMO, which expands upon the European Digital Media Observatory’s work on the impact of fake news and promoting good practices in using digital media in Italy. IDMO, coordinated by the Luiss Data Lab, also includes TIM, Rai, Gruppo Gedi, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, NewsGuard, Pagella Politica and T6 Ecosystem.
