Again this year, TIM participated in DigithON, the initiative that offers Italian start-ups the opportunity to present new digital business projects to Italian and international private and institutional investors without having to go through intermediaries. The event, now in its eighth year, achieved significant numbers: over 400 candidate projects, 100 start-up finalists and 48 hours of competition within a four-day marathon that alternated competition events with debates and interviews with a variety of guests.
For TIM, innovation is also found in initiatives such as this one, which represent a great opportunity to support the development of new projects in the various areas of the digital revolution, from e-commerce to the Internet of Things, augmented and virtual reality and robotics, with a particular focus on the future of artificial intelligence. These initiatives are a springboard for start-ups to turn their ideas into reality, developing new synergies and collaborations.
As part of the event's Scientific Committee, TIM participated in selecting the finalist start-ups and helped determine the overall winner of the competition, the Turin-based start-up Novis Games, which proposed a game environment that allows developers to create accessible modes for blind and visually impaired people in their video games.
In addition, TIM awarded a special prize to Guardian - Safely Around, a software solution designed by University of Catania students that allows users to report any real or perceived dangerous situation via a mobile phone app. The award was presented on the Bisceglie stage by Matteo Macina, Head of Cyber Security at TIM, who was also the key speaker during a cyber security debate, emphasising the importance of close cooperation between companies, institutions and individuals to counter the cyberthreat to Italy, which has grown by 169% from 2021 to 2022.
