In Italy, the use of AI in companies is booming: its estimated worth in 2023 is €1.9 billion, and by 2027 investments are expected to grow to €6.6 billion, mainly in the finance, telecommunications & IT, manufacturing, and retail sectors, but also in healthcare, public administration and agriculture.
As reported in “Artificial Intelligence in Italy - Market, Innovation, Developments”, produced by the TIM Study Centre in collaboration with the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center.
The study underlines how Artificial Intelligence is one of the main enablers of digital transformation and is accelerating the creation of new solutions to increase productivity, change the approach in the way of working and, above all, offer innovative services that are more responsive to real customer needs. In Italy, 60-70% of large companies already use this technology, but many medium-sized companies are still lagging behind.
TIM, and in particular TIM Enterprise, the TIM business unit that supports the digital transition of companies and public administrations, offers numerous applications of this technology, which have already given rise to some real success stories. Such as that of Prestofresco, the supermarket chain that has increased efficiency and business performance by applying AI, or the Urban Genius platform, which was applied to the municipality of Catania to create a digital twin, which has made the monitoring, management and maintenance of the city more efficient and effective.
This and the role of TIM Enterprise in this chain of innovation were discussed at the TIM AI Challenge event, which concluded with the announcement of the winners of the call aimed at start-ups, scaleups and companies and conceived by TIM as part of its Open Innovation programme to expand the TIM Enterprise portfolio for businesses and PA with new AI solutions.
Among the 160 participants, 80% from Italy and 20% from Spain, France, UK and USA, 6 winners were offered a partnership with TIM Enterprise and the challenge partners.
